TTD warns of legal action against heli-pilgrimage tour operator

Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has warned of legal action against the Vasavi Yatra and Tours for deceitful devotees with the promise of a VIP break darshan at Tirumala and Tiruchanoor temples on Saturdays during the Puratasi month via trips to chartered helicopter.

In a statement here on Monday, the TTD warned worshipers against getting carried away by such false promises and beware of fraudulent operators. An operator by the name of B Shiva Kumar was found openly advertising via social media on such package tours from Chennai, Coimbatore and Bangalore via helicopter trips, he said.

“Operator Vasavi Yatra and Tours announced that the heli-pilgrimage tours would be organized for a payment of Rs 1,11,116. The package includes chartered helicopter trips to Tirupati as well as a VIP break darshan in the temples from Tirumala and Tiruchanoor, as well as accommodation in a five star hotel. They are trying to attract pilgrims in the name of TTD darshan, ”said a temple official.

The TTD clarified that VIP break tickets will only be provided to VIPs in accordance with protocol and for those recommended by such VIPs. These tickets are not provided to individuals and travel agencies. He called on the faithful to monitor these “fraudulent” operators and to bring these cases to his attention so that the necessary measures against them can be taken.
