Lyrics by Benjamin Russell
A growing number of motorists are considering an electric vehicle as their next purchase, with Tesla being the obvious choice for those looking for something with style and status. But with issues like range and access to charging points, it can be worrying to make the leap from fossil fuels.
Having identified this, car rental company SIXT has added the Tesla Model Y to its fleet and is offering longer rentals so people can try before they buy. Plus, those who sign up before the end of November can gain access to an exclusive Tesla Tour package that features mystery routes designed to show off what the vehicles have to offer with the chance to have fun along the way. .
The tours include three mystery trips – one per month – taking the driver on a scenic journey to discover a surprise British destination, filled with scenic routes, adventurous activities and, most importantly, electric charging stations along the way.
When purchasing the package, customers select the dates they want, then on the day of departure receive a packing checklist, including everything from goggles and a beach towel to hiking boots, as well as a list of postcodes to put in the car’s GPS. Zip codes will lead them to electric charging stations, activities and the final destination – a nice hotel to stay overnight while their Tesla charges.
From hikes in the Lake District to paddle boarding in Surrey, the activities will give drivers the chance to enjoy some of the country’s most breathtaking scenery and Instagram-worthy activities, while recharging their car’s battery.
An example of a route is a scenic route from London heading south towards the New Forest. Along the way, stop at Go Ape Southampton to throw axes while your Tesla charges up. After a few hours of fun, head home for the night at Forest Lodge, a boutique hotel in Lyndhurst with a charging station conveniently located in the parking lot.
Start your day with a complimentary hotel breakfast before heading to Houdini’s Escape Room Experience. On the way back, fire up the car for a final charge and enjoy a round of go-karting.
The Tesla fleet is now available for subscription through the SIXT+ subscription model, which allows full flexibility, with no long-term commitments or other contractual obligations. Customers pay a fixed monthly price and fuel costs at no additional cost and can cancel at any time.
The Tesla Tour package costs £800 and is available to customers who subscribe to a Tesla for three months or more.
Tim Vetters, Managing Director of SIXT UK, said: “Adding Tesla cars to our SIXT+ offering is a really exciting step, and we know our customers will think so too. But we like to go the extra mile and give our customers something to make the experience even more special – and we think our Tesla Tour packages do just that. Subscribe to SIXT+ and choose a Tesla for the chance to see the country and embark on adventures you might not otherwise have – what a brilliant way to get the most out of your rental car! “
The addition of electric vehicles follows the announcement of SIXT’s new sustainability program to further accelerate the reduction of CO2 emissions and demand for smart e-mobility. Fleet electrification is just one part of the program, which aims to inspire even more customers to experience sustainable mobility.
