Pakistan earns $85m from exporting travel services in 2 months

ISLAMABAD-Pakistan earned $85.060 million from providing different travel services in various countries in the first two months of the current fiscal year 2022-23. This shows a negative growth of 12.30% from the $96.994 million of the same services provided in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year 2021-22, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported. During the month under review, personal travel services decreased by 12.66%, from $96.784 million last year to $84.530 million in July-August 2022. Among these personal services, expenditure exports related to health fell by 32.73% while expenditure related to education however increased by 0.68%. In addition, other personal services experienced a decline of 12.75%. Meanwhile, exports of business services rose 152.38 percent from $0.210 million to $0.530 million, PBS data showed. It is pertinent to mention here that the country’s service exports witnessed an increase of 4.63% in the first three months of the current financial year (2022-23) compared to the corresponding period last year. , he added. Services exports in July-September (2022-23) were recorded at $1694.96 million compared to exports of $1619.93 million in July-September (2021-22), showing a growth of 4.63 %. The country’s imports fell by 6.21% from $2,497.28 million last year to $2,342.31 million during the period under review.
