CEBU CITY – There are no licensed tour packages that would take people to the Cordova-Cebu Link (CCLEX) highway for photo ops.
This was clarified by Allan Alfon, President and CEO of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway Corp., after social media posts surfaced offering a stop at CCLEX on tour packages.
Alfon clarified that it is forbidden to stop at the CCLEX for security reasons.
He then reminds motorists that the CCLEX is a road discipline zone.
“It’s definitely not allowed. We have never accredited these packages which are made public. I would like to clarify that we do not authorize, we have never accredited these packages,” Alfon said in a news forum on Tuesday, July 12.
Alfon said security personnel are deployed around the clock to reprimand those who might stop at the 8.9 kilometer bridge to take photos.
Alfon revealed that there were plans to set up a center outside the bridge where people could congregate for a closer look at the bridge.
Alfon said based on Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco’s suggestion, a “bisita center” (view center) should be set up to accommodate those who would like to take their photos with the iconic infrastructure.
“We’re planning now or it’s already on the drawing board,” Alfon said.
Alfon assured that the CCLEX will be part of the campaign to boost tourism in Cebu.
