IRCTC to Launch Tour Packages for Chandigarh Soon and Signs MoU with CITCO

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a subsidiary of Indian Railways, is soon to launch a package tour for Chandigarh. The IRCTC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO).

A senior IRCTC official told the media that according to the MoU, the two entities will work together to develop the tourism industry in Chandigarh.

The official further added that IRCTC (CMD) Managing Director Rajni Hasija and CITCO (MD) Managing Director Jaswinder Singh Sindhu signed the MoU.

According to the MoU between IRCTC and CITCO, the two entities will work together to develop the tourism industry in and around Chandigarh. The CITCO will select and develop the tourist sites while the IRCTC will bring the tourists.

According to the MoU, the two companies have decided to organize national and international events in Chandigarh. Special events such as concerts and live performances will be organized to attract businesses and tourists. “Tourists purchasing the Chandigarh tour package would have access to these concerts and shows,” a CITCO official said.

IRCTC and CITCO are also planning to create a special Sukhna Lake cruise package.

According to an IRCTC official, the development of tourist sites and reception of tourists will be handled by CITCO, while the subsidiary of Indian Railways will bring tourists.

Earlier this month, the IRCTC had launched a special tour package for Goa. A person can enjoy a Goa tour with only Rs1000 per day.

IRCTC offers two types of tour packages for the 11 nights and 12 days Goa tour. The first is the sleeper class and the second is the AC class package. Fans of visiting Goa will have to spend Rs11340 for the sleeper class package. IRCTC charges Rs 18,900 for the AC package. Both packages include train ticket, breakfast, lunch, dinner, hotel stay and local transport.
