Foreigner ‘gang-raped’ by tour guide and two others in Dera Ghazi Khan – Newspaper

LAHORE: A US national was allegedly raped by her “guide” and two accomplices at the Fort Munro tribal area tourist resort in Dera Ghazi Khan district.

Also a social media activist and vlogger, the woman was on a trip to the hill station of Fort Munro.

Acting on the woman’s complaint, the Military Border Police (BMP) arrested the prime suspect, ‘M’ (21), who is also believed to be a US citizen.

Ali Waseem, DG Khan District Police Officer (DPO), said Dawn the suspect had confessed to committing the crime.

The DPD said the BMP presented the suspect in a local court and secured his pre-trial detention, while the woman was sent to hospital for a medical examination. He said the Fort Munro BMP recorded a gang rape case on the vlogger’s complaint, which alleged the suspects also recorded video clips of the episode.

The DPD said the stranger contacted the prime suspect through a tour guide group page on social media and planned a trip to Fort Munro at his invitation. She then informed the police by telephone that she had been raped by her hosts.

During the investigation, it turned out that the woman was visiting Pakistan and residing with a certain Basil Khan in Lahore.

Basil told the police that she was his fiancée”.

According to investigative reports, Basil and the foreign vlogger met prime suspect “M” through a social media app, the DPO said.

The woman told police that at M’s invitation, she left alone for Rajanpur on public transport, where she stayed for a few days with her host’s family.

Later, on July 16, the two departed for Fort Munro, where they stayed in a hotel room. The woman later alleged that she had been raped by ‘M’ and her accomplices.

“I received death threats from ‘M’ over the phone for reporting the matter to the police,” she said in FIR.

Fort Munro BMP Police filed the First Information Report (FIR) against three suspects named under Sections 376 and 292 b of the Pakistan Penal Code.

DG Khan’s deputy commissioner, Anwar Baryar, who was also the senior BMP commander, said Dawn the woman was on a trip to Fort Munro, where she was allegedly gang-raped.

He said raids were underway for the arrest of other named suspects.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz has requested a report from the Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP) on the Fort Munro incident.

The CM ordered indiscriminate action against the culprits, saying they would receive an exemplary punishment according to law and justice would be done to the plaintiff.
