British tennis star Emma Raducanu spent time with Olympic freestyle skiing gold medalist Eileen Gu in London.
The US Open champion is back in England as she prepares for Wimbledon, which is due to start on June 27.
She is due to compete at the Eastbourne International this week as she continues her recovery from an injury – a side strain sustained at the Birmingham Classic.
Meanwhile, Raducanu has been spending time in London with Gu, another teenage sports star.
Gu first shared a photo of the couple on his Instagram story, before Raducanu returned the favor and posted a photo of the duo standing under the Union Jack bunting, with the caption: “@eileen_gu_ takes ldddnnn”.
Gu is believed to be in London for the Tiffany & Co. exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery, and it’s no surprise that she is friends with Raducanu. Both share Chinese heritage and both enjoyed unprecedented sporting success at a young age.
The 18-year-old became the youngest Olympic gold medalist in freestyle skiing at Beijing 2022, triumphing in the big air. She then took silver in the slopestyle, before taking another gold in the halfpipe.
She is the first freestyle skier to win three medals at a single Winter Olympics.
Raducanu, 19, became the first qualifier, male or female, to win a Grand Slam last year at the US Open.
She was also the first British woman to win a Grand Slam title since Virginia Wade in 1977.
Raducanu has been plagued by injury since winning at Flushing Meadows – she was hampered by her back at Indian Wells, the Miami Open, Madrid Open and Italian Open, and was forced to stand withdraw from his first-round match at the Guadalajara Open. with a hip injury.
Blisters were another problem for Raducanu, especially at the Australian Open and the Billie Jean King Cup.
But the star has shown brief glimpses of promise during the clay-court season, and she hopes to develop consistent form on the grass this summer.
